Hartlepool Families First motors on thanks to F.Peart & Co

March 2012

The much loved Hartlepool ‘Families First’ PlayBus can motor-on entertaining local children, thanks to a generous donation from local heating oil supplier, F. Peart & Co.

The iconic ‘playground on wheels’ PlayBus provides over 6,500 children of all ages - and their families - with the opportunity to play on the bus, in a safe and friendly environment.

F. Peart & Co, which is also based in Hartlepool and supplies fuel and lubricants to domestic and commercial customers across the North East, made a £500 donation to the PlayBus, an existing customer of the company. The money will go towards the ongoing running costs of the eye-catching bus, which operates throughout Hartlepool and the surrounding villages of Dalton Piercy, Elwick, and Greatham.

The donation was made as part of the company’s charitable bursary scheme, after Paul Thompson, manager at Hartlepool Families First, contacted the company. As part of F. Peart & Co’s commitment to the local community, the bursary scheme aims to support worthwhile causes in the North East and provide an extra helping hand to those in need.

Speaking about the donation, Paul said: “Since it started over 20 years ago, the PlayBus is still as popular as ever with the local community. F. Peart & Co’s kind donation will really assist with the ongoing expense of running the bus and travelling around the local area.

“We also support community events and the donation will help us to continue this work, as well as providing a fun service for children and families in the community.”

Laura Jackson, business manager at F. Peart & Co, commented: “The PlayBus is a great way for children in Hartlepool to play safely together and it was a pleasure to be able to support Hartlepool Families First with a donation.”

As a loyal supplier to the region for over 80 years, providing both domestic and commercial oil to rural and remote communities, F. Peart & Co launched the charitable bursary scheme in November 2011 to support local community groups, charities and sports teams who need a helping hand.
